Origins

Thanks for visiting the inaugural post for this blog.  Everything has a beginning.  The origins of the subject of this blog are partly found in United States public law 106-38, known as the National Missile Defense Act of 1999.  There will be more updates as progress is made, things develop, etc.  For the time being, you are invited to review an excerpt from the law that drives current activities in Romania.

It is the policy of the United States to deploy as soon as is technologically possible an effective National Missile Defense system capable of defending the territory of the United States against limited ballistic missile attack (whether accidental, unauthorized, or deliberate) with funding subject to the annual authorization of appropriations and the annual appropriation of funds for National Missile Defense.
